Publix is the goat, dont question it. They are a great, clean, modern grocery store that always has bogos. Their deli, bakery, seafood departments are all grade A.

Publix grocery store planned for Nashville's Melrose area
I can't wait for this store. It's not in East Nashville, but it will be 5 to 10 minutes from my house. Most people who live in or near the urban core have limited and crappy grocery options. A boutique clothing store or high end restaurant or bar only helps so much....a nice, clean, new, well laid out grocery store is much more exciting to me. So long Eastland Kroger.....

Not exactly what I would call the core

It's within the urban loop so yes I would call it the core.

But my question is, isn't there already a grocery store over there? Publix is fine and all that, but I don't think it's the best I've ever been to.

Publix Pharmacy is one of the largest retail pharmacy chains in the southeastern United States by store count. Its free medication program has been the first of its kind and has been around for several years.

San Diego-based developer Southwest Value Partners has released new renderings of its downtown Nashville project that includes more than 4 million square feet of retail, office, residential, entertainment, and hospitality, including a 600-room Hyatt Regency Hotel which will be located on Broadway across from the Frist Center. The Nashville Yards name pays homage to the location's history in serving as a brick yard, marble yard, lumber yard and rail yard.

It might not seem like it at first, but I think this proposal will really help add some length to our skyline. There look to be probably 3-4 buildings that will be prominent at some angles in the skyline, and it will add some beef to the area west of 8th, where there currently isn't really anything (except for Westin and JW Marriott further to the south).

It helps bridge the skyline gap between Downtown and The Gulch (Endeavor will help that, too). It, along with 5th+Broad on the downtown side, and JW Marriott, Westin, and the Embassy/Curio on the SoBro side (as well as the potential for 2nd Ave Partners) will create the image of two separate skyline clusters (Downtown and SoBro) separated only by a few blocks.

This is sort of a dead spot in the action Downtown. This will really strengthen the cohesion between downtown and The Gulch and (though separated by RR tracks) will help make the Capitol View project seem to be closer and more connected to Downtown.

My vision of Downtown, SoBro, The Gulch, and eventually Midtown growing together is starting to take shape.

Now that some of the road projects are spinning up, I for the life of me can't figure out why TDOT hasn't addressed the bottleneck on 65 under the Fern St bridge. And while I know it's expensive, adding a lane in both directions would really relive the merging pressure that's currently present.

For 65 south it'd mean that the Trinity's southbound on-ramp lane would have it's own lane onto the bridge crossing the Cumberland. Eliminating the NASCAR merging techniques that happen there all the time.

For 65 north, you could add one maybe two lanes to help the 24 / 65 merge that take place 50 feet from the bridge.

Yes the bridge would need to be replaced, or eliminated. Eliminating the bridge it would be problematic because that's where all the news stations get their downtown shots.

Years ago I saw a plan to widen the Fern St. underpass in one of the master plans for like 2050 or something. I think the cost was something like 100 million which is a lot of coin, but there's wrecks there every dang morning south bound in that area. 65 by Rosa Parks is backed up in the evening commute because of the 24 / 65 merge at Fern St.

I never understood all the widening they did north of Fern St on 65, but left the bottleneck there at underpass at Fern St.
