I'll be moving from Long Island to Nashville with a friend of mine. We are both in our 20's and going to a University down there and are having a hard time looking for an apartment in our budget, and in an area that is safe.
Apartment needs and budget is as follows:
-$950 MAX for rent INCLUDING UTILITIES -(COULD POSSIBLY PAY ANOTHER $100-200 FOR UTILITIES BUT THAT IS PUSHING IT.
-Must be 2 bedrooms
- 1 bath or more( 2 is preferred but one is fine)
-IN UNIT Washer/Dryer OR ON SITE Laundry
-Appliances MUST BE INCLUDED
-No more than an hour and a half MAX to Nashville( seeing as I can't seem to find much to work with we are willing to commute at max an hour and a half).

**Any help would be greatly apperciated. If anyone knows of any apartment complexes or areas that are safe and afforable please comment**

***My biggest issue is safety and living in an area that I feel safe in***

Parts of Antioch are oK. Maybe Murfreesboro? Or maybe a one bedroom and one of you gets the living room. My utilities (water, garbage, gas, electricity) are never over $200 and that’s for a 1500 sq ft house. Average is around $135. Your water and garbage might be part of your rent. Good luck to you!

$950 MAX - is this for each person (i.e. total if $1,900) or total for the apt.?

If the second - you'll be hard pressed to get most of your wish list anywhere close that isn't in an iffy area.

It is $950 per person...
If a washer and dryer are not included, we may be able to buy them as long as there is a hook up but I'm hard pressed to find anything in a decent commute and in our price range without fearin for our safety.

If you can both do $950 per person, you should be able to find something easily in Donelson or Hermitage. Both are safe areas.

Not ideal. If you're going to a college (which one?) then that may be a tough and draining commute every day to find somewhere safe. I don't know where to find a safe 2 bedroom place where absolutely everything would stay under 950 after utilities. That puts you in the 750-800 a month range which is going to be extremely tough. You'll find listings but you won't know if the areas are safe or not. Even then the complexes themselves may not be either. The commute is terrible but maybe Murfreesboro?

Which university? Don’t they have apartment listings through the school?

I tried to edit my post on my iPhone and it didn’t take. I think some of the older complexes in Bellevue might be around that price. It’s east of Nashville.
