How exactly does diversity help my kid to learn?

Will he learn more if the kid next to him is from India or the Chicago slums rather than a kid from Hendersonville or Alabama? How does race help learning?

How is going to school with project kids and millionaire kids just like real life? I've never lived near a project, why would my kid need to learn to relate to project kids when he'll never live with those children?

I don't disagree with you at all (at least as most people simply mean race when they say "diversity"), but go back and look; that guy was totally joking.

Because we don't live in a caste system. People who grew up in poverty can move up the social ladder, and people who grew up wealthy can move down. As your child grows up, he will interact with a wider group of people, and understanding the life experiences of his cohorts is absolutely a valuable experience to the extent that it allows him to better interact with his peers.

Denton, in my book diversity is more than just race, I went to a school in Japan, it was pretty diverse...but aside from that I find your comment small minded.
