HUH??? Makes no sense. You have to be the first person I ever heard this from; therefore, I am not inclined to believe it.

No; I'm not a troll. I was from the Riverside area. Our fruits and veggies were and are so much more cheaper there than here. Our health ins went up around 75.00 a month and our car ins went up around 400.00 for 6 mo's. The only thing cheaper here is the gas. And we can get a 4000 square foot home in Riverside, CA that's only 2 years old on 2 acreas of land cheaper than you can buy a 30 year old home here in Lebanon with around 5 acreas of land. Believe me; we have done our homework before deciding on moving back to California because of so many people. We didn't want to leave here but cost wise just makes since to go back. Plus we'll make around $17,000.00 more a year doing the same thing.

I was amazed at the decription of a home you could buy back in Riverside, CA. I just went to a realtor site and put in the info you gave (see quote below) and the price of the home is $1,250,000. I did the same search for Lebanon, TN, and found the houses cheaper.

All I can say is if you think CA is cheaper than TN, and want to go back that is your decision. It looks like you've convinced yourself to go back to CA.

Here's the info:

8067 CHOI Drive
Riverside, CA 92506 $1,250,000 ($6,951 per month 4 Bed, 5 Bath, 4,035 Sq Ft on 2.41 Acres

I think what you meant to say is that, thankfully, metro Nashville has not been as severely affected by the national housing crisis as have many other areas, including much of California. That is a little unfortunate if you're looking to buy (as am I), but in truth it's a good thing for the local economy.

These are a couple of homes we're looking at in California. Of course there are more expensive ones the closer to LA you go. But the Inland Empire is less.

17892 Glen Hollow WY, RIVERSIDE (CITY), 92504, CA $450,000.00 MLS#I08024587

This next one even comes with all the furnishings and a Rock Pool.

17665 Scottsdale RD, RIVERSIDE (CITY), 92504, CA MLS#MLS #: T08092469

Also the sales tax is 9.25% here in Nashville. Back in California it is 6.75%.

Believe me; I am not saying I want to move back to California. But cost wise it just makes good judgement. I can tell I have ruffled a few feathers on here. I was just putting facts out. I would hate to see others make the same mistake we did. Sure California a couple of years ago was WAY over priced on Real Estate. We sold our home and doubled our money in 3 years. We could not have afforded to buy back the same house. But when the bubble busted; homes became more like they should. and their still coming down.
I see the same homes online here that I was looking at a year ago. I'm the one who talked my Husband into moving here so I could be closer to my family. He agreed because we, I said it was cheaper to live here. When we arrived and started getting lined up with Veh ins and changing our Health ins, we were amazed and couldn't believe it was more here than in California. I feel bad for talking my Husband into moving here. He's from California originally. I left Louisiana in the 90's to move to California. I hated it there because of all the people and the traffic. I was so glad to get out of there when we were moving here. We loved it at first. Don't get me wrong. The country side is beautiful here in Tennessee. But it's costing us more.
And also something else we had to think about. Real Estate will appreciate more in California than it will here.
So sorry if I upset some of you on here.

Where are these listings? I found the first one listed for sale on Zillow, but the listed price is $699,000.

Mike, go to redfin.com and put in the MLS# then when you scroll down you can see what the original sales price was and there after. Also it will show how much and when the prices were dropped.
