In the first 48 hours, 2,746,000 pounds of debris has been removed and volunteer turnout has been phenomenal. Only 450 homes are still without power, even though the tornado knocked out service to over 18,000 homes.

I never had any doubt that I lived in a wonderful town full of amazing people and the turnout and volunteerism displayed by those in the community and beyond is simply breathtaking. We have a very long road to recovery ahead of us, though.
Reading the pounds of debris gave me chills.

I am so impressed, proud, and honored to live in Murfreesboro along with these "amazing" people Mary_Moon mentioned!

All I can say is WOW! So much destruction, yet so much accomplished in such a short period of time. I am very proud to be part of this community and call it home!

Saturday morning I woke up to only the sound of birds, which was kind of nice but also rather eerie considering I live right next to Thompson Lane. I have a ton of pictures I'll post once I have internet access again (I'm posting this from work).

The tornado was just upgraded to an EF4 due to the amount of damage it caused. So far, a total of 94 homes in the entire county were completely destroyed. The earlier numbers I posted were just within M'boro city limits.

If you haven't seen the destruction first hand, there's no way you can possibly imagine just how terrible it is. Please continue to keep the families and rescue workers in your thoughts.

This is probably the scariest picture of the tornado that I've seen so far:

I saw that one too. That is a very clear and horribly frightening picture. Once again, we are under a "tronado watch". UGH!

When I am at the moment (MetroCenter) the current storm is just coming over. This one doesn't appear to be anything like the one we had last Friday. Thankfully.

These first rounds don't appear to have nearly as much of a tornado threat, but the ones later this evening reportedly do. Let's hope the weather forcasters are completely WRONG!

And now . . . twenty minutes later, it's sunny.

Right now it looks like south Georgia and the panhandle of Florida are getting hit pretty hard.
