I guess when you live here so long and hear the same type of news (carjackings, drug busts, prostitution rings) repeated about the same area of town, even the natives attitudes sour toward that particular area of town and we really don't want anyone coming here thinking they are walking into Mayberry where no one has to lock their doors. I give credit to the Nashville PD for trying to clean up reknown "bad" areas of town, but as society as a whole deteriorates, some of these criminals walk our streets everyday looking for unsuspecting prey.

Nashville for the most part is full of friendly people, but as it has been said, crime is in every major city and Nashville is not exempt. Be careful and aware of your surroundings. I have been downtown at night when going to make hospital visits and such, and safety precautions are always in order. Lock your car doors, and have directons before you drive (most businesses don't mind if you call and ask directions from your location). If you need to stop and ask directions, go into a convenient store, don't ask someone on the street corner.

Hi there. I am moving to Nashville in a few weeks also so I don't have too much imput. I just wanted to say that I've stayed at Brentwood Suites a few times and it is nice. It seems to have the same pricetag as other hotels I checked and was $102 after tax ($89 before tax) for 1 night, 2 beds. You also get a microwave and fridge which is good if you are staying a few nights. The breakfast is good-eggs, sausage, make your own waffle, juices, milk, and the other regular breakfast foods. Its about 10 minutes from downtown nashville. Also, I come from a small town in the mountains with very low crime and I was a little naive about crime in big cities. I have to agree about Murfreesboro rd. I wound up there and I wouldn't recommend it at night. It was the middle of the day, we had the windows up and were going about 35 mph or so and we could smell alcohol all up and down that road! Not to mention its where a lot of housing projects are.
