Anything less than 100,000 is a small town to me, unfortunately .

me too! Exactly what I was thinking. Anything less than 100,000 is a small town to me. And I currently live in a town of 65,000. Lincoln is a nice sized city, the metro of Omaha is what I consider a large city.

Everyone in Shelton, Nebraska was mighty proud when we first learned that Charles Kuralt was going to feature our little town and newspaper editor in his show "On the Road with Charles Kuralt." News traveled fast, and we all were glued to our TV screens with anticipation for the broadcast. Yes, we were excited to see our small town put on the map, but we were even more pleased that small town sensibilities and humor received the attention of the media. Thank God for Charles Kuralt and Doug Duncan.

In my relative terms..

small town to me is under 5,000
small city is under 50,000
mid sized city is about 250,000
big city is 500,000+

being from nebraska, i'm proud to state my hometown of beaver crossing is the BOMB. i wouldn't want to live anywhere else. it has a population of roughly 500 people.

I consider anything less then 40,000 small. 50,000 is pushing it but there's something "magical" about that number. However, my cousin from Los Angeas (16,000,000 people in the area) thought Omaha (1.5 million in the area) was tiny and boring. It's all relative.
I live in North Platte, and we're just pushing the 30,000 milestone. It's definantly small, but it has so much more to offer then Gothenburg, a town of 2,000. 1,000 is the smallest a town can be before, I think, it no longer qualifies as a town. Maxwell has about 400 people, and I really don't think it qualifies as a town because everyone come in to North Platte to work (expect the ranchers and farmers).
