Hi, I was just curious how Ord was doing. Haven't been there in almost 20 years. Heard you have a McDonalds and a few other fastfood places. I can't imagine what it looks like now.

I do not live close to Ord, I live in southeast Nebraska, but my dad grew up in North Loup. A few years ago, a few friends and I traveled through Ord and it seems like a very nice town. We ate at a McDonalds - like you said. There is also a golf course and I hear there will be an ethanol plant built outside the city as well. This is about all I know!

my mother is from ord, i went to catholic school there to 8th grade in the late 60's mid 70's. it hasnt changed much in the past 20 years. the town is divided about its hospital. (one of its major problems, oh and lets not forget the controversy over the secret attempt by some in the school district to buy houses and tear them down to build a gymnasium). other than that, its fairly quiet there. seems to be quite a few houses for sale. most of them look pretty nice. you have most of what you need although there is only one remaining grocery store. very nice park and golf course. not sure on employment oportunities i do know they have some sort of new business that does telemarketing. hope this helps

Don't want to live there. Was just checking to see how it has changed. My family is from there, (first settlers even) and I haven't been there in awhile.
thanks for the info.

Remember the pink house on main street when you're coming into town, just down the street from pizza hut on the left side of the road?? Last time I drove through they had repainted it pink!! Only in Ord. Nice quiet town, it must have changed, when I lived there part time growing up with my mom who owned the Chanticleer for a while and my step dad was a cop it was anything but quiet and anything but uncorrupt.

Last time I was there there was not a pink house or a pizza hut. It was '87/88 I think the last time I was there. I did see a couple months ago that my Grandads old optometrist / jewelry place was up for sale. That round brick building. I have been wanting to go back and visit there but I am thinking that I will not and just remember how it was back when I was a kid there visiting every summer. Do they still have that sign/plaque thing of the Auble's outside of the ?Library? (I think it was the library or the court house)

Hate to tell ya but there most certainly was a Pizza Hut there back then. That's where I collected all of my Carebear glasses when I would stay with my mom. It's east on the main drag, O street I think.

Thanks, didn't remember seeing anything but a dairy queen. I was 13 years old last time I was there, guess I didn't pay too much attention to that stuff. I didn't even know it was a dairy queen we went to until I was at one here years later and saw a cherry dilly bar.

Okay I think you're confused. I was there the same time you were, same age. There was no Dairy Queen, just Chanticleer Drive Inn and Ord Drive Inn. Are you sure it was Ord you were in?? What is the family name by the way, if you don't mind my asking I'm just curious if it's someone I would remember.

Family name is Auble, Dr. Glen Auble and Lillian are my great grandparents. Well known there, lived in Ord.
The place we used to go for ice ceam was probably just outside of ord. It had a eating area that was in this weird downstairs place??? but they used to have these round cherry ice creams on a stick which when I saw them at a dairy queen I just assumed that is where I used to go. You know when you are a kid you don't pay attention to the names of places. I will have to look at a map, it's been awhile.
