Hi,

As part of a larger trip, I am considering going down through eastern Nevada -- as a kid I used to live in northern Nevada, and this is the biggest swath of the state that I never got around to seeing, so I'd like to pay it a visit.

Anyway, I was wondering: ignoring anything like road quality or speed (which I've found addressed on old threads), if you were judging purely on scenery, would you take NV-318 or US 93 between Ely and LV?

Note that I won't have much time -- no more than an hour, say -- to actually stop, as my trip will be 35-36 hours in 3 days if I take this route, with only 8 allowable the last day. But I'm thinking of staying the night in Ely and trying to see some nice southeastern NV scenery.

Thanks a ton for your opinions!

U.S. 93 for better scenery IMHO. Stop at the town of Panaca and see the Million Dollar Courthouse, and the museum, and see this: Cathedral Gorge State Park | Nevada State Parks

If you can squeeze in the time, take a side trip to Great Basin Nat'l Park near Ely. It is beautiful.

The million dollar courthouse is in Pioche.

Oh, right. Sorry. I sometimes get those "P" names mixed up.

But if you got to Panaca looking for it, they'd set you straight, and the drive back to Pioche isn't that far.

Agree with Rt.93 & do stop at Cathedral Gorge...just a couple of miles off 93.

Thank you for the replies. :-) I did take US 93, and it *was* beautiful. I stopped and saw the (exterior and entryway of the) Million Dollar Courthouse and also Boot Hill (fantastic!) in Pioche, and drove a mile or so into Cathedral Gorge (but not as far as the visitor center). It looked spectacular, but I will have to try to go back -- I had over 1100 miles to go that day.

Thank you for the responses!
