As the temperatures rise through the spring so does my desire to get started with our gardens and crops. In the mean time there's plenty other things to do here on the farm.
The attached picture is this years brood sows who are expecting piglets the end of this month. The 3rd pig "cow" (for obvious reasons) grew out fine and we will be enjoying our own smoked ham this Easter.

Here is a picture of a pair of Southdown lambs. Born during the last snow storm. We keep about 25 brood ewes and it seems that lambing always happens during the worst of the seasons weather. Never a dull moment. These lambs are what we call "bummers". They were part of a trio and for some reason the mom rejected these 2. (what a bummer - hence the term) They are now bottle babies.

That is disgusting, you should just raise lettuce!

J/k...... Just trying out my liberal, vegan humor this morning!

It would be cool to raise and eat your own livestock just to know what you are actually eating (no growth hormones/steroids/chemicals etc)
