Newhampshiregirl, AWESOME PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Makes me want to retire now and head North! I'm stuck in New Jersey for a couple more years, happen to love my job!!!!! Starting to plan now. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every winter its pretty much just tune up the snowthrower and wax the ski's.
I do like to keep a couple tons of pellets by the side door. We learned a thing or two from the ice storm last year, we'll have oil lamps, a couple gallons of lamp oil, a transfer panel and a generator just in case we get hit with another doozey.
I get ready for winter after the snow melts in April. That's when I get my firewood delivered and I stack the three cords. In October I service the snow blower and make sure the kid's stuff that shouldn't be buried for 6-7 months is picked up and the hose is put away. I watch the forecast starting late October for the first snow of over an inch or so and take care of mounting of snow tires on two cars. Also October, I disassemble and clean the wood stove and get the chimney swept. It runs pretty much 24/7 December through March, and nights either side of those times.
Oh, I also look for my winter gloves and when I can't find them, I go to Walmart.
In about two weeks we'll be putting plastic again up on the windows downstairs. It gets drafty down there, so the plastic seems to help.
We planted shrubs this year in exchange for reduced rent in our rental house. They need wooden boards over them in an A frame to keep the snow from burying them, they are still young.
Every season we do a huge seasonal cleaning. We wash down the windows, baseboards, shampoo the carpets, etc. just to help freshen it up before we are encased for the mighty winter.
