Hi all! I am considering relocating to NH in the coming year and am interested in communicating with teachers currently in NH.
I have been a high school Social Studies teacher for the past five years and am certified in PA/NJ/ME and am certifiable in NH but have not applied for the certification as of yet.
I would like to continue teaching in NH but am interested in finding out further information relative to issues such as health insurance, course load, school atmosphere, etc. As I have not applied to any school in particular as of yet I do not have any specific schools to request information relative to however I am interested in finding out the stories of others so as to help guide me. I have contacted several schools in ME and learned that many do not offer family health care without cost as a benefit but only individual health care and I am wondering how prevelent that is in NH. In addition to that NJ curriculum requires both a US History 1 and 2 which are my subjects of choice and where I have gained my experience and I notice that a number of schools only have one US History class and a World History, and some electives and I was wondering if that is NH state curriculum or am I incorrect? Also, interested in the general feel for schools as I currently work in small district with very little money, a lax administration, and a school with a high turn over rate with a reluctance to tenure teachers in the past (however, thankfully I made it through and am tenured).
Again, thanks and I'm basically looking for any information and a few people to shoot the breeze with about teaching in NH so as I can more fully prepare myself and get my ducks in a row.
Chris
