Love this neigborhood. Great vibe and amazing food. Brazilia Grill (on Monroe?) is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I'm happy to know a Newark native or I never would have known about this wonderful area.

Anyone else a fan?

It's an awesome little community.
I was really unaware of Ironbound all together before I moved to Newark in June. I mean I've heard about it, but never really expected much of it. In all honesty, it's THE best ethnic neighborhood in the state. You got it right with Brazilla Grill- A few more others are Fornos of Spain and Casa Vasca.

The nightlife is pretty solid, it's not Hoboken- But it's better than what I'd expect.

The community is wonderful- Great hard working, family oriented people.
When Portuguese and Brazil tied during the world cup, the whole neighborhood, both Brazilians and Portuguese, were celebrating together.

Ironbound is pretty now during the holiday (ferry st at night). Very crowded though. The parking is bad. Some whole streets are double parked on street sweeping day. The food... ehhh. If you like seafood! I prefer forrest hills, more mixed population and wider streets.

One things for sure, while living in that section I never went hungry. That being said I wasn't to crazy about the area while living there. It was safe by Newark's standards but myself not being Portuguese kinda makes you feel on the outside. Overall though it's nice to visit it and they do a great job of maintaining it.
