I love cars.
i always left later friday evenings to avoid traffic. last summer i didnt really have to leave too much later and it was usually pretty smooth sailing. then ill usually go home late sunday night. so i rarely have issues. also, where you used to need to make reservations sometimes weeks in advance, we dont have to do much planning anymore. right before the weekend my mom will take care of that. its nice and convenient for me, not so good for the businesses. i have no clue how they stay in business.

this summer i think my wife is planning on spending more time at the shore so it will be me and the dog and city data forums more week evenings.

Ruined? Nah. IDK about the mainland, but LBI isn't ruined.

It's exactly the same as it's always been (lovely!) and the beaches are better than ever.

Same here. Of course, the beach is only 15 minutes away.

Don't worry, I pay the price with $350/month to get to work via NJ Transit and PATH.

I think all summer, I only went to the beach once during a weekend. I always go during the week to try and avoid the crowds (and I know which way NOT to go on Rt 55 Friday-Sunday). It's going to suck when I have a real job and can't do that anymore.

We have always done between 15-20 day trips over the summer to various beaches from Jones beach to IslandBeach/LBI to Wildwood. Gas prices on top of other $ limiting factors means we will most likely cut that in half this year.
