I've worked in Elizabeth everyday for 25+ years and have yet to see a "nice" section where I would ever consider living by choice. Some areas are worse/better then others but in my opinion, there are no "nice" areas. No matter where you are in the city, crap areas are only a few blocks away.

Sorry !

No, that neighborhood has definitely not hit bottom, but for someone moving from Princeton, I think that Elmora would be quite a culture shock at this point.
I don't know about the OP, but in my case it is an issue of affordability rather than option. I could easily buy something in Woodbridge which is where I currently live. However, Woodbridge does not have the same charm than Westminster or Elmora. By the way, I have not spent that much time driving around that section of Elizabeth.

My apologies to the OP if I.....in some way, shape, or form hijacked his/her thread.

When you work in any city for a long time , you tend to only see and feed the Negativity. This also goes for living in one place for a long time and not getting out and exploring it. Hench why New Yorkers hate or don't know anything outside NYC , because they never leave it. The Same is turn for working or living in Urban Jersey for a long time , there minds go blank.

No, my mind "didn't go blank", my opinion is there are no "nice" areas based on my criteria. For others, maybe they see something nice in Elizabeth but from what I am used to, there are no nice areas to live in.

So what do you suggest? What about Rahway? Metuchen? Linden? We can pay max $2000.
We have NO idea about any area other than Princeton, we have come to US 10 months ago
I asked Elizabeth because it seems close to Princeton and NYC.
OMG there are too many bad things about all towns

If you're used to Princeton I might cast out Rahway as well. Metuchen could be a good fit though, Woodbridge as well. Have you thought about the Brunswicks as well? What about Cranford?

Cranford and the other suburbs around there are nice. Obviously some places where flooded with the recent hurricane but you can figure that out I think.

For $2,000, you can rent a nice townhouse, maybe even a 3/2 house in Cranford. You can take the bus or train to NYC, but I'm not sure that you can catch a train to Princeton from there. I'm pretty sure you can from Metuchen, but it's not as nice as Cranford, though it's still nice.

I agree Westminster and Elmora are pretty nice. If you have to live in Elizabeth I would probably try those townhouses in the waterfront. But I'm not too sure.

I know you said you can't base Elizabeth off of some pictures. But here's some pictures I would like for you to see of Elizabeth. Although I don't have any of Westminster. Oh well this is for you to see how Elizabeth looks like.

PS sorry if I have Linden or Westfield they're not sections of Elizabeth.
