We haven't been there in a few years, it's about an hour drive to Mt. Airy as opposed to an almost 3 hour drive to Atlantic City, we decided to go a few weeks ago and were shocked, it was penny machines everywhere, what the heck is going on? the 1 Casino we were in had 5 $1.00 Wheel of Fortune machines, 5 .50 WOF machines and not 1 .25 regular WOF machine, they had .25 video WOF machine. Most of the machines seemed to be video slots, couldn't find a regular Blazing 7 machine and couldn't find any 10 X pay machines. We spent more time looking for regular machines than actually playing machines. The penny machines are ridiculous, people want to see what they can win, on a penny machine there's so many silly combinations that you have no idea what to look for.
Is anyone else complaining about these machines? or just me? just by the sheer amount of these machines I think I must be the only 1 who feels like this.

I don't play slots (you'd have to be insane to play slots), but it seems to me that AC has declined because there are so many other, better options for out of state people to spend their gaming dollar. AC needs sports books and online poker.

at what point are your odds so bad that its insane to play the games? they are all losers for the gambler.

You are right, sir. But I'm not a gambler (well, I am when I play craps). Almost all games in the casino are horrible for the player; the house has a huge advantage on slots, roulette, Asian games, and baccarat, and a somewhat lesser but still significant advantage on craps and blackjack. With a high degree of skill you can manipulate the odds of blackjack and even craps to some degree so that the house advantage is diminished or even neutralized depending on your play.
In the case of poker, the players who can play win out; the ones who can't lose. You're playing the other folks at the table, not the house. The house's profit comes from the rake it takes from everyone's play.

yeah, im not a gambler either so all the casino games are kind of insane to me. but i suppose its a matter of paying for entertainment, so if you enjoy it then its worth the fee of losing money. poker against other players and sports gambling seems like a better deal.

it's not that they only have to be in AC, but currently, it's illegal in the entire country, as i understand it.
i'll play blackjack or craps, and the odds aren't bad, plus you drink for free. so even if you end up down $100 on the night, it's not all that different from going out in manhattan for drinks on a friday, except you have a chance at making money. i can see how some people get no enjoyment out of it. but lots of things are a waste of money to some, but enjoyment to others.

I think it was the casinos that wanted to be assured by the state that the only ones who could get state approval to sponsor online poker games would be them.

i believe sports gambling is illegal in all but 4 states currently. if i remember correctly, its because the states that had it legal at the time it was federally banned were able to keep it legal. but i dont know why it is only allowed in certain cities, but even moreso if it comes to where its legal in individual homes throughout the state.
i get no enjoyment from gambling. its just throwing away money and getting nothing back for me. but its not my business what other people find entertaining to them. fortunately for me, the slots entertain my mother and she enjoys providing me and my brother with delicious meals and free rooms at the borgata. so i benefit from the slots, without losing money.

haha yeah im sure they would want that and be more than willing to line some polticians pockets for that protection. lots of comped meals and suites to politicians who protect their revenue.
