I'm looking for a charity that will accept and can pick up (Passaic County) a 27" analog TV (works fine) and a 7' Christmas tree (needs assembly). These items are in good condition but I'm having trouble finding a charity that will take them.
To the best of my knowledge, no charities will accept analog TVs any longer.
You might want to try the Freecycle organization online, as there might be an individual who would be interested in one of these outdated TVs--unlike charities. An Xmas tree is something that many folks who troll Freecycle would likely be interested in.

Those TV's are obsolete. Everything was switched to digital.
Put it out in bulky waste or the electronic recycling.
Try selling it on Craigslist. You can't ask too much for the TV, but you may get as much as $50 cash if it's in real good cosmetic shape and in excellent working order.
The same advice goes for the Tree, but I can't give you an estimated resale value for that as that is out of my area of expertise

I been trying to sell my 40 inch HDTV for $100 on craigslist and have no offers. I think I'll try to list it for free next. Thing weighs like 90 pounds, but works perfectly fine.
I think the big old box style TV's are the best, but the fact is they're obsolete. They're too bulky, heavy and dated looking. Today was bulk pickup in my town and I saw at least 3 sitting in the trash, they probably all worked fine.
I would also suggest posting on Freecycle and or Craigslist(free). Each time I have used either one to post an item I was offering, I did not use my usual email. I got lots of ridiculous interest from CL, from FReecycle I got much fewer responses but they were "normal" people.

I would prefer to see them being used than sitting in a landfill. I had a large wall unit that was in good shape that I hated. Someone picked it up and e-mailed me to tell me how perfect it was and how much they loved it. Plenty of people bought the digital boxes and don't use cable. Please consider using freecycle.
