Hi, looking to move from Long Island to Jersey in those towns really close to NYC like Fairview, Union City, etc. I have people I know who live in North Bergen and enjoy it there. I am downsizing to a condo because it is necessary after a divorce and I need to simplify my life and be close to the nyc where I once lived and worked. I am 36 years old and have two kids ages 3 and 4.
For those who live in the areas along the riverfront with NYC views, and very close surrounding areas, how are those neighborhoods and how are the schools? How kid friendly are these condominium complexes? What do they have to offer kids? What is your experience living there, the good and bad? How is it in terms of parking as well? My son has PDD NOS and info from anyone with experience with special education services and early intervention would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would look in Bergen County. Your child will get no special services in Hudson County, absolutely the worst place to live for a child with special needs.
Fairview is in Bergen County, but I'm not familiar with it.
Before you decide where to move I would recommend hiring a parent advocate who works with families in & is familiar with Bergen County school districts.
