are u kidding? There is more tourism in south jersey than north jersey, who the heck goes to north jersey to unwind?? newark museum, jersey science center or whatever? yea right. and u can't count the giants stadium neither.
we DONT have much tourism up here... thats what we have NYC for... after 9/11 ALOT of big companies from NYC moved to Jersey City (ex Goldman Sachs).. which has alot to do with the revialtization of downtown JC.. Plus with all the petrolieum factories and transportation facilities, landfill, North NJ is not a "pretty" place... its ugly,gritty and crowded.. it's Nj's money maker..
SJ is definitely the Tourist Spot.. the shore, A/C, Six Flags ect.. i totally agree with you on that... BUT..You cant rely on that tourism in the winter time!!!! or those nice farmlands!!.. And in reference to Giants stadium.. i dont care about the place.. its on top of a swamp.. they need to implode it like the VET!! lol ....And as Long as The Eagles go to East Rutherford and kick the giants Ass every year im happy! (its fun being an eagles fan in north NJ lol!).. but anyways.. i seriously think its a bad move /idea for south NJ

I live in South Jersey and everybody up in Bergen, Morris keeps trying to give us Trenton. I'm going with the Camden, Burlington, Monmouth County diagonal line.
East Jersey and West Jersey like the 1600s. I think a curveball such as this would catch everyone offguard and quiet the most useless argument - the "North Jersey" vs "South Jersey" argument that nobody in the other 49 cares about.

And they gave us Trenton then too! There's no escape. At least then we got the Delaware Water Gap area.
Fun fact: back in the 1600's there were 2 Jerseys, East Jersey and West Jersey. The capital of East Jersey was Perth Amboy and the capitol of West Jersey was Burlington. In 1702, East and West were united.

Trenton is DEFINITELY south jersey.... when im driving north on the t-pike i consider exit 9 the start of North Jersey... 7A-8 is DEFINITELY central... 6 and below i consider it SJ
I'd put Burlington and Monmouth counties and all below south, Middlesex and Mercer counties and all above north. This has always differentiated the NJ shore areas from the more urbanized. North could get Trenton as capital while Cape May could be designated the southern capital. I always thought Cape May accentuated the beauty of southern NJ with the boardwalks and other resort towns, as well as the wilderness of the Pine Barrens, while Trenton - 'Trenton makes and the world takes' - fulfilled the ethos of the northern, industrialized, urban areas.

I agree with this - exit 9 and above on the tkpe, and everything above the driscoll bridge on the pkwy is north.
