I can't get in touch with family in Bricktown that live on the lagoon. Does anyone have word on that area?
The areas near the water were severely flooded. The areas away from the water were relatively unscathed and some areas even have power. Some of the stores on 70 were open late this afternoon.
Given that Union Beach was wiped off the face of the earth and Perth Amboy had significant high level flooding, anyplace within a half mile or so of the shore should be considered to have a very high probability of significant flood damage.
Laurence Harbor had at least a few houses completely destroyed.
Wait, is that for real about Union Beach??? I used to live there and always thought it was a sweet little town. You were being hyperbolic, right?
Ok, I saw on the news that the bayshore area has extensive damage and union Beach isn't 'off the map' but there is very sever damage. The barrier islands are essentially wiped off the map because so many homes have literally been swept out to sea. What a horror show.
I've seen pictures of many boardwalks and piers. Does anyone know about the Steel Pier in ATlantic City? That is full of rides as well and over the ocean.
