Honestly, I was being nice about the wall. Newark is a eyesore and could use a good old scud missile to strike and clean up the place a bit. If your innocent and live there, I'm not sure why in the hell you would want to live in that dump. Yeah I said it.

Another RR was car jacked three hours before not to far away, odds are it was the same group and they probably have a "network" in place. Agree they probably abandoned the thing because it was too hot, but they also could have just left it on a street or torched. Hiding it behind a house perhaps indicates they may have been waiting for the heat to die down and or to see how much of it would come of their actions. It is not like car jacking in and around Newark is a new event these days.
I bet if it was some black middle class couple who were shopping in downtown Newark when someone stole their 2010 Honda Civic and killed the husband,no coverage would have been given
a little too hollywood sounding to me. i'm going with car jacking, guy fought back, they shot him, then left.
You're probably right, but do note that when I wrote my post, the "he fought back" part of the story was not part of what was reported. It was that the guy opened the door for his wife, she got in, he walked around the car, two guys materialized and shot him in the head, then made his wife get out and took the car. THAT does sound suspicious.
I think what Bugs is getting at is the AMOUNT of attention that happens. It got to the point that NJ.com had to shut down the comments section of the story.
Meanwhile, this was barely a blip in retrospect. And that guy has served his community as a cop!
i don't know why he risked his life. maybe he thought his wife was in danger. i dunno. maybe he was worried about whatever he just put in his car that he purchased. i dunno. whether he (thought he) was protecting his wife or not, to me, the reality is, you're not winning a fight against someone who has a gun on you. it's stuff from hollywood that makes people think they are. i know this is easier said than done, but to me, the "right" move is to hand over the keys and say "just don't hurt us, take it".

I'm not saying I agree with what he did. I think you save any heroics for a last resort. He probably jumped the gun (no pun intended), and took measures that should be reserved for when his wife REALLY was in danger. Again, this is more conjecture. Either way, he is an innocent victim.
I don't know what the low lives wanted. Obviously they weren't the sharpest tools in the shed, killing someone in such a high profile location. Maybe they thought killing him would scare off anyone who might try to stop them. Maybe killing him was no big deal to them because of where they come from, so they just did it because he didn't get out of their way fast enough. Hopefully, we will find out one day.
