Husband's job taking us to Wayne, NJ area. Looking for a safe area with good schools. Would be buying a single family home no more than 600k.
Would be OK with a 30-45 minute or so commute. Any input would be valued.

Just make sure you stay clear of the areas that flood during a rainstorm.
I've been out of the area for awhile so I don't know if they ever corrected the situation with the flooding. I'm sure that someone from the immediate area can help you with that. Good luck on your move, Wayne is a very nice place, except for the traffic on Route 46/23.

Most areas around Wayne are really nice. Wayne itself is great, except you have to be careful of flooding in some areas. Pequannock is nice, but again there are flood zones. Kinnelon is really nice, schools are great, but the prices are ridiculous.
Boonton Township is really nice, excellent schools, but not in Boonton..make sure it is the Township.
