What's the deal with Fair Lawn? (Paramus, Ridgewood: sales, rental, townhouse)

I haven't used the parking lot on saddle river road, so can't comment. It's NOT restricted to just fair lawn residents I believe, anyone can park - check fair lawn town website to confirm. Try going to the parking lot on Monday-Thursday to see.
If u are thinking of taking express 164, u can just street park nearby and walk to TD BANK bus stop (landzettel way or Ackerman dr?)

Hmm. Years ago when I lived in Fair Lawn, there was a guy named Landzettel who used to come into the same bar I went to after work, and so did his daughter. He had a paint store or something. I guess they got a street named after themselves.
Waldwick is another town people like to prop up. It is better than Fair Lawn though. I looked at buying in Fair Lawn in 2005. Glad I didn't. I know people who live there and there who refer to it as northern bogota.

I mean I kinda see your point. Besides the poorer schools, lack of a train station, a 25% lower median household income, and flood issues, Bogota is exactly like Fair Lawn.

i'm curious where you ended up buying? Wish people would follow up.. it would be fun to know! I like Fair lawn too! Nice, family, affordable.
Every so often someone does come back and let us know where they ended up. I'm another vote for Fair Lawn. Good town. Just don't marry anyone from there like I did.

I know this is old but isn't Fair Lawn actually further south on the map than Bogota? northern Bogota haha
curious where you ended up? did you find your home? I like Fair Lawn. Nice people - kinda artsy in the Radburn area. I love that communal feel of Radburn. It's pricier than other areas in Fair Lawn and the homes are smaller - quaint and adorable.. just walk around! If you have kids, i think they'd love that part of Radburn.
We live in Bergenfield, it's a very diverse community, and there's a lot of lower income families living (2 family homes, or in apartments), there are a lot of benefits to it, homes are priced well, taxes can be high if you're in certain sections. there's a "downtown" with an adorable old movie house. great NYC Bus... runs very frequently. and you border a lot of more expensive towns, like Tenafly. Check it out.

Radburn community itself was designed to be walkable to the train, Radburn elementary school and a few stores/restaurants clustered near the train station. Memorial section is of course somewhat poorer and uglier but it is also mostly walkable to the elementary school, stores on River Road, some after schools activities and the train station. I realize not everyone cares but I want my kids to be able to walk and not just be driven everywhere.

My father, born in 1921, remembered that Radburn was advertised as "a town safe for children!" when it was first designed and people began to move in, and then in the first year a kid was run over and killed by a car.
It is kind of cool, though. I had a friend who lived in one of the original townhouses. Very solidly built, not like our cardboard townhouses that have been built since the 70s. And the sf houses around the parks are set up so that the front of the house faces the park and the kids can walk to school without being on a street.
