I may have to move to NJ for work. I'm considering Summit because of the frequent train service. Could anyone opine on how the middle and high schools are in terms of academic performance, and how they compare to other good NJ districts such as Millburn/SH, Princeton, West Windsor etc. I also notice Summit has a preponderance of rentals and multi-family housing/buildings. Does this have an effect on class sizes?

From the websites, the MS and HS look impressive (Latin, orchestra, etc.) and can hold their own against the best SDs in the NY metro area while at the same time the neighborhood offers a great commute. I'd like to know how things really are from the ground level perspective and if there is a catch.

There is no such thing as a "cheap" apartment in Summit...the schools are great and I personally feel Millburns school district is over rated. Summit is in Union County and while taxes are still high they are nowhere near as high a Essex County's taxes . I would take Summit any day...stay out of Essex County
