We are living in Queens NY and would like to move to NJ. Anyone live in Princeton Junction and commute to NYC everyday? How's the commute? Is it too expensive? I heard there's a long waiting list for parking permit at NJ transit train station.
The waiting list for the parking at the train station is several YEARS long. You're better off going to the park and ride on the NJ Turnpike and taking the bus.
Some Amtrak Metroliner trains did stop there - not all. The Acela doesn't stop, but the northeast regional does.

While there are a few homes right around Princeton Junction, most are actually more in East Windsor or Princeton proper. Viralmd mentioned the wait list for parking. It's usually easier for people to walk to the Princeton train station, take the trolley to Princeton Junction and get the train into NYC.
While I don't commute everyday into the City, it is doable. I would suggest giving yourself about 1 hour 45 minutes for travel time. You can order a monthly ticket through the Quick-Tik page for NJ Transit.

As Viralmd said, the Acela doesn't stop at Princeton Junction. You can get the up-to-date schedule in PDF here for Amtrak.
The commute is about 55 minutes on the express trains that run every 15 or 20 minutes at rush hour, and costs $331 for a monthly pass. Daily parking is $4 (see West Windsor Parking Authority for parking info.)
A few Amtrak trains to DC do stop at Princeton Junction, but Trenton has many more. Acela is nice, but the regular regional trains cost much less, and still get you there fast - about 2 1/2 hours.
I'd also take a look at Hamilton and Plainsboro. I know people in both of those towns who commute to NYC and, while it's not a walk in the park, is do-able if you're willing to wake up early.
Parking at Princeton Junction is not the problem it was a year ago. Now you can get a space in the main daily lot along the Dinky tracks before it fills up around 7 am, or in the back of the more distant Vaughn Drive lot, which doesn't fill up. Either one is $4/day.
P.S. Yes, the thread started years ago, but it still comes up high in Google searches on the topic, so it might as well get updated/corrected, right?
