I'm currently house hunting. I know in general New Jersey has very high taxes. But the postings on this forum suggest certain cities are singled out as much higher then usual taxes. Is this true? If so.....

Which county(ies) are known for lower taxes then others? Or is it broken up by town/city?

Thank you..

It's mostly by town/city. There is a county component to your overall tax burden but that is usually quite small.

Go to Tax Trauma Index and select a county at the bottom to see average residential tax bills by town in each county.

Areas in Warren County are still reasonable - Homes in Hope, Blairstown - under 5000K yr. Depends on the house mostly..and certain areas. Still some reasonable areas in both Morris and Sussex Counties as well. Are you searching? gsmsl.com includes the property taxes on the listings... surf away : ))
