Hello,

Can someone please tell me the good areas in Old Bridge to purchase a house? We are commuting to the city, so proximity to transportation is important. We also have 3 kids, so schools are important.
It seems that Old Bridge houses are a little bit cheaper than the ones in Manalapan/Marlboro area. Can anyone comment on that?

Thank you so much for any insight!

Old Bridge #8
Manalapan and Marlboro didn't make the top 200

You can catch the #139 bus on Route 9 in Old Bridge or park (private lot) at the Matawan train station.

What's your budget?

Just commenting that the link of the schools is SAFETY. Not really sure what went into the analysis, and safety is definitely important but not to be confused with academics.

You get more for your money in Old Bridge as compared to Marlboro or Manalapan. Marlboro and Manalapan have a "better academic" reputation than Old Bridge. I live in Marlboro with my 3 kids and we are very happy with the school district.

As mentioned Old Bridge has the Bus Route #139 that travels down Route 9, Manalapan is on that route as well but will be a further commute than Old Bridge. Depending on where you are going in Manhattan depends on the mode of transportation you should take from Marlboro. My husband worked in Midtown Manhattan and drove to Cheesequake Rest Stop on the Garden State Parkway and then took the bus into Port Authority. Aberdeen/Matawan train station is closest to Marlboro and gets you into Penn Station but monthly prices are a bit higher.

if you want schools that are ranked higher and generally considering higher achieving by most metrics, esp at the HS level it goes Marlboro, then Manalapan, with OB a distant third in this list. If you expound on budget, housing expectations, commuting tolerance, etc you will find more useful answers and perhaps more options.

We are looking in the $600-$700k range and will need a 5 bedroom house. Schools are very important, but I also don't want to live on the bus to/from the city. I work in midtown (57th and Lex).

There are a number of developments in Old Bridge (east of route 9) that would fit your needs plus be close to the bus stop/ train station.

It's going to be a brutal commute regardless. Most of Old Bridge will just be less brutal than the other two.
