hoboken is the best... there is no question. south of 10th is not true. the whole town (only 1 square mile) is safe, but the closer you are to washington street the better, both for convenience and safety.

I'm not a big fan of Hudson County because of the extremely high population density there. But I understand that it's close to NYC. So, IMO, stick with either downtown JC or Hoboken. They are the only areas in Hudson County (along with Secaucus and Kearny) worth considering.

There's nothing to do in Secaucus and Kearny. If your gonna live in Hudson County, definitely Downtown JC or Hoboken. At least you have 24 hour access to NYC.

I meant that these areas are the best areas of Hudson County, regardless if they are urban or suburban.

I've observed the arguments on this thread about urban areas vs. suburban areas. We all have different tastes and needs! If someone thinks JC is ghetto and dangerous and decides to live in Cranford, that's their prerogative. If someone thinks that Hunterdon County is boring and in the middle of nowhere and decides to live in Hoboken, more power to them. We shouldn't judge either party for wanting to live where they live.
