Guy probably had a cush job at PSE&G sitting around job sites reading the newspaper... was vested after X amount of years and had plans to ride off into the sunset with a nice pension, and then a new supervisor came along and they clashed and got him canned.

I can see that, especially the way people here talk about their jobs and cush pensions.

It's always government jobs that trigger these murder suicides.

Nowadays, I almost feel like some private employers do you a favor by letting you go. Many places are straight hard labor. I might have sent my last place a Christmas present if they let me go.

Statistics can lie, but generally if you seek out enough sources, you can come to a mean that more closely reflects reality.

NJ is overall a very, very safe state.

Of course statistics do not speak to individual situations. They blanket an entire population. So if your individual situation is not safe compared to relevant statistics, some factor you’ve created is causing that difference.

Just think of it as driving drunk compared to driving sober. Overall traffic safety statistics for a particular stretch of road may be relatively high, but when you drive it drunk, your chance of becoming one of the negative statistics skyrockets.
"NJ's superiority?"

Do you know how small NJ is compared to NY?

Size doesn't matter (TWSS). Ever heard of West Virginia?

+1
Many of those sick souls choose Suicide by Cop, deliberately causing a confrontation while armed, in order for LEOs to shoot the sicko while trying to defend themselves.

That’s two murders solved in one thread. Who needs police??

Titanic ignored warnings about icebergs and annoyed a ship close by (California) so that it turned off its radio and never heard Titanic’s distress calls.

The band on Titanic played ‘Nearer my God to Thee’ as the deck chairs were being rearranged. The band on the AD played ‘Arrivederci Roma’.

Obviously, I need you to ‘splain the metaphor, if you would.
Silly...but you do know that's not factual...right? It's just a saying?

Actually, the Stockholm broadsided/T-boned the Andrea Doria.

It's still fair to say Andrea Doria and Stockholm "collided".

Number of souls who perished on Andrea Doria was 51 not 60.
