Saw this on the Politics and Other Controversies forum, where some of our more limited-IQ posters are trying to make the case that she was killed by Democrats because she is a Republican, but it's pretty wild that somebody would fire ten or more shots at this woman in her SUV.

I wonder if she had some kind of secret life that's going to come out.

Hoping for some input from our most illustrious Sayreville resident.

Some people on the comments page of the news article I read mentioned she was fighting some planned developments in Sayreville tooth and nail and believe she was allegedly targeted because of that.

This definitely looks like a targeted assassination. I'm skeptical, but not completely dismissive of the political angle. But I can't think what someone would want to achieve by killing a city councilperson. There might be a local corruption angle, where either she was involved, or found out and was going to expose. But that purely speculation.

That's why I am speculating that this was done either by--or at the behest of--a spurned boyfriend/girlfriend/former spouse/obsessed follower. But, rather than continuing to speculate, I think that we should give the LE folks some time to investigate and sort it all out.

if you hadn't noticed, the southern border has been overrun and includes a million gotaways, many found to be terrorists, many conscripted gang members. How easy would it be to recruit a non entity and pay them well to do whatever is required???????

This shooting not consistent with our area.

Spouse is always worth a first look if there is a spouse. Recall the NFL player for the Carolina panthers got 18-25 for a drive by shooting of his pregnant girlfriend.

we will have to wait to find out the details. Uneasy that the type of person who could outright kill someone, is in our midst.

It looks to be a targeted murder. She was gunned down while driving, during the day. It was likely either a personal related matter, or because she was a black, republican woman.

There is a lot of hate, intolerance, racism against black Republicans by the Democrats in the country, something that needs to be addressed at a national level.

I bet our NJ forum Sayreville resident will find out the dirt. Hope he reports.

But I'm leaning toward it being personal. She just got married around Thanksgiving. Comes from Newark, which in and of itself should not be a problem, but as we all know, it often is. She or her family might have associated with someone unsavory at some point. Jealous woman, jealous man?

7 pm in February is not "during the day". And she was shot in her vehicle outside her own apartment, so if she was driving, she was leaving from or arriving at her home, which sounds as if someone was lying in wait.

I don't know any Democrats who hate black Republicans. I imagine they might exist, but "a lot of hate, intolerance, and racism" seems to be your usual overdramatic hyperbole, DH.

First thought should always be DV. Unfortunate, but borne out by decades of murder statistics.

LE helicopters swept the woods by my house off and on for a few hours last night. I sat out on my deck in the dark covering my backyard just in case. I have two sliding doors facing those woods. Better to actively cover them than to hope for the best.

My house is the last on a block where a finger of those woods ends, a very likely exit point had anyone tried to flee through the woods from where the shooting happened. Thankfully the perp apparently fled up onto the GSP, probably to a waiting car. I was half-expecting cops to knock on my door because I'm fairly certain the helicopter focused on me a few times.
