Hey Everyone,

Just wondering does anyone commute from the Sparta area down 15, then down 80 past parsippany everyday? If so, could you tell me what the typical traffc conditions are like in the morning between say 7:30-8:30ish AM and at nighttime between 4:30-5:30 PM? I might be relocating up that way at some point in the future, so I was wondering... any info will be greatly appreciated!

During summer, morning commute is lighter due to school been out, but usually if you leave at 7:30 from Sparta on route 15 you'll make it to route 80 in between 30 to 45 minutes, keep in mind that if there's any accidents, sun glares or if the Traffic Gods decide to make it a hellish commute for their own amusement, you'll be stuck there forever. I drive from Newton to E. Rutherford and it takes me 1 hour door to door if I leave any time before 6am. Now, the commute back is the same thing from E. Rutherford to Newton, as long as I leave before 4pm. Hope that helps you some.

Above is correct. Ill add.

15 going S in morning is extreme example of fill up during rush hour. Past 6:30 AM it becomes a semi mobile parking lot. At 5:15 AM on a typical day for me I barely touch the brakes. On days I have to leave later. UGH!

There aren’t really many good ways around 15.

15N in the afternoon, for some reason doesn’t seem to delay as bad but note I don’t say it doesn’t delay. Accidents seem to close it downright several times a year tho. Have fun on those days.

Snow and ice make it even more interesting.

And school out FTW! Lighter traffic.

I don't travel down 15, but I do travel on 80. It's definately a challenge needless to say.

Oh come on, let's not scare the OP away. Yes, it can be bad, but once you know the traffic patterns, you'll be able to know when to leave to avoid the big jams.

It can be bad? It's ALWAYS bad. You want to know the best traffic patterns? Go to work the day before a major holiday, you'll make it there in no time!

If I can make to E.R. in one hour from Newton, it's not ALWAYS bad, and I'm talking doing just 70mph too, yeah, leave at 7:30, you'll be stuck there but again, once you know the traffic patterns you'll be able to know when to leave by in order to avoid all that mess which can be daunting to say the least.
