Growing up my parents always took me to Shepherd Lake at Ringwood State Park – it’s perfect for families, they have a concession area, bbq grills, boating, fishing and hiking. I remember we use to picnic on the chapel’s front lawn – doubt they still let people do that but it’s a great spot if they do.

I think Echo lake in passaic county is public.. im not sure, i've been there and its really beautiful.. feels like im not in dirty jersey no more hah

ummmm... way too crowded with NYers! Too many motor boats with drunk drivers...not a good choice in my opinion - especially if you're bringing the kids along.

That's not very nice Wiley!! Bad bad girl I wish no harm to illegals...every morning as I drive down 46 to work through Denville & Parsippany I see them biking and often think they are taking their lives in their hands...no helmuts..no protection

Hmm have to agree..I love Sunday nights when they all go home
Some of the boats do not belong on a lake that size...maybe lake george up in NY or a bay or ocean....
