The most consistent replies I've been getting to my posts about suing our condo association for inten. infliction of emotionl distress is that it's not worth it, costs too much money, too much time, too much of a hassle, etc.

Ok I buy that. But I'm curious if it's that much of a hassle, when IS it worth suing for inten. infliction of emotional distress??

Just curious

When the award ($) is greater than the hassle/trouble.

emotional distress, that's a good one. Some ambulance chaser might tell you that you can't work anymore, you haven't eatin any food in a month, no sexual appetite anymore, nightmares galore, you kick the cat everytime you see him, you beat the kids now. What happened to the good old days when you would just punch someone in the mouth and move on. Nowaday your life is ruined by emotional distress. This is the best one I heard in a while. Let's see- " Jersey Man I told you to take out the garbage" said Mrs. Jersey Man. "Leave me alone I'm heading to the lawyers because I'm stressed". Only in america.

Care to elaborate on exactly what the condo association was doing to cause all this duress

I have no idea; but I imagine the cost/benefit analysis is different if you're tacking that claim onto a lawsuit that includes other substantive claims, rather than just bringing a suit on the emotional distress issue.

It may also be "worth it" if you're doing it not for financial reasons, but more to make a point, i.e. if the money you will waste on it is not an issue for you.

I'm not a fan of lawsuits!! How stressed out did getting a speeding ticket make you? Do you need antidepressants? Are you visiting a shrink? Is the world coming to an end?

If you're planning on getting into that kind of scuffle with your condo association, I would recommend moving first. I can't even imagine what they would do to you if you brought a lawsuit on them.
