we escaped nj....much too expensive...and going up...but if you must, here is a tip...CARLSTADT, RUTHERFORD, WOODRIDGE, HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, HACKENSACK, MAYWOOD AND PARAMUS.
Don't listen to Forest Grump.......I'm asking questions on three different forums to decide which state is best for me so I understand what your doing. It's sad that he answered you that way, that's the kind of person that gives this state a bad reputation and believe me there are a lot of nice people here.
I've lived in several areas in NJ and if you enjoy the beach then Monmouth County is really nice. It's central, traffic is really only bad in the summer and even then it's not as bad as north. Not far from the NYC so you have the best of all worlds: beach, city and suburbs. The only reason I'm moving is because of the high property taxes but thats all over most of this state.
