I currently live in NY and want to move to Nj. i want a good area that is quite, Clean, and great school

i want a 2 bedroom, no more than 1,250. Easy to get transportation to Ny. I have a 4 year old that is currently going to school and receives therapy, i would like a school that will meet his needs. I honestly want to live in a good community that's people friendly and safe, this is why i want to move from the Bronx. Please don't get me wrong, i was raised in the Bronx in a house for 10 years, but i want something better for me and him. Ny has really changed to the worst..
I would also like to have near a play ground and a gym.
I was looking into Somerset NJ, but it takes an 1hr 40min to get to queens, NY.
thank you

For 1250, you will probably get a 1 bedroom in a good community.

For 2 bedrooms, it will be around 1500+

all the places you can find in NJ, even in your price range, will be cleaner, nicer, quieter, more parks, more trees, with better schools than NYC, luckily - even though you're stretching your budget

2 bedroom for $1250 is a stretch, but it's out there, but you'll be looking at towns with a longer commute, and/or odd, old apartments with smaller rooms or other odd negative features

of course, an apartment bulding would save you the realtor fee, and may be cheaper, but those have their advantages and disadvantages. Pick up an Apartment Guide, they have them for free in little newspaper stand thingies near diners and stuff sometimes

A quick MLS search, max 1250 rent min 2 BR, in Bergen County found listings in the towns of mostly Garfield, North Arlington, Lodi, and Lyndhurst the most, which is predictable, there were also some in East Rutherford, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, Ridgefield, Englewood, Fair Lawn, and only one in Hackensack, which surprised me.

Most dense/apartment housing is near the downtowns of our towns, so you'll generally always be near gyms and playground parks, not so "near" if you don't have a car and have to walk everywhere. Do you have a car? If you want to move to NJ you may want to think about getting a car, even a cheap P.O.S. that you use for getting around in NJ, but not commuting.

Look at the njtransit line map so you can see which towns are at the ends of the train lines and so would have a shorter commute. Though, train commute is more expensive, but it is a lot more predictable, doesn't have to deal with traffic, though the Northeast corridor gets delays every other month or so.
Bus commute is much cheaper, but you have to expect traffic and being later sometimes.

and oh yeah, there's also utilities to consider, and I guess TV/Internet

Maybe get yourself a realtor. Tell him to search, and then view a bunch of places at once one weekend to avoid the hassle of coming into NJ so much.
