I prefer Wildwood broadwalk... unless I want to make a trip to the Casinos.

Wildwood and AC are both so different, and the reasons that one would make the trip to either boardwalk vary greatly, so it's hard to say one or the other. If you want casinos and possibly more sophisticated nightlife (depending where you go), I would say AC. For the beach, sun & fun, and more casual nightlife, Wildwood would be your best bet of the two.

It has been a long time. My parents rented a house in the crest of Wildwood two blocks from the beach every year when we were kids growing up!
I love that boardwalk! Makes me think of sausage and pepper hero's and the "Captains Table" restaurant on the beach for take out lunches!
Also renting bicycles in the early mornings!

I like Casinos, so Atlantic City would be my choice.

i agree, it's almost like comparing apples to sneakers.

i also agree with your assessment. beach, casual, family fun = wildwood. shopping (especially upscale, The Pier for instance), dining, nightlife, casinos = AC.

If you want to gamble everyday, go to AC, but not for the boardwalk. If you want the classic "boardwalk/ NJ summer place" eperience go to Wildwood. I prefer to stay at North Wildwood, I have a place that I rent there. Its quieter, the beach is not as crowded, and I can walk to the boardwalk. The kids dont have to pass the boards everyday, its special to go out at night there. The Crest is really nice too...Wildwood itself is more loud, crowded and younger group in season. There a loads of effeciency units so you can cut expenses of eating out all the time too..My place has a patio and BBQ grills that we use all the time. In addition, we do make a trip up to AC approx 45 minutes for dinner or a concert. Have fun wherever you go!

You bring up old memories for me, I use to visit Atlantic City and the boardwalk quite often when I was living there back in the 70's. The steal peer was there. It was a cool place then, I don't know much about it now.

Unfortunatley, I find the AC boardwalk is not much to talk about these days... as a lifelong Jersy girl I too remember it in better times. Now, to me , its just a walking path to get from Casino to Casino... not really very nice crowd and pretty scarey at night. The height of the summer weekends are a little better, but I would not even consider bringing children anywhere near there.

Is Wildwood really only good during a few months during the summer? Curious if many people there during the other 3 seasons...
