Hello forum friends . I'm looking at a house in River Edge and wanted to get the inside scoop from you on the vibe of the town. Any information about schools, people, traffic, lifestyle, activities, restaurants etc would be very much appreciated.

Also important, please let me know about the commuting options to Manhattan in the 30s on the far west side. How bad is the traffic on Route 4 and the toll booth area in the mornings? Is it a lot quicker going through the tolls from the Palisades Parkway and living further north rather than near Route 4?

Thank you so much for the information .

I do not know any info regarding the commute but River Edge is a good community. Location is good and schools are good.

Proximity to Oradell w/o the added expense of Oradell. Both towns share RDHS. Proximity to Paramus (malls and parks) and North Hackensack (restuarants) too. I think its an OK town.

River Edge is a nice town.
It has good schools and a nice middle class family feel. They keep building up the town wiht newer bigger homes but the problem is that the lots are small so area starting to get houses right on top of each other.
The commute to NYC by car is always rough and hard to judge but Route 4 is almost always bad. I would use public transportation if you can.

Route4 gets pretty bad around rush hours but not having to deal with 4/17 interchange is a huge bonus compared to many towns west. When coming home I would take river road exit before Riverside Square Mall then take that to New Bridge/hackensack Road. I live in New Milford and there are two bus routes from midtown that i know of (both from Port Authority), one to the Teaneck Armory and one in New Milford. Im sure there are River Edge options.
