i'm always a fan of ruth's chris, but non chain the best i've probably ever had in state was at Silver Spring Farm in Flanders or the Ryland Inn (defunct) in Whitehouse Station.

Actually Meson Madrid in Palisades Park does not have bad salmon, and tile fish steaks and there filet mignon is not that bad either

The best steak I ever had was at the Washington Inn in Cape May, NJ on June 26, 1993. (Do you think I remember it?) LOL

i'm like that too, LOL, especially with my steak. the washington inn is supposed to be outstanding, i'd like to get there someday.

i'm a steak snob and have been to some of the best places in the country (on purpose as we'd go with work). come to think of it, bernardsville inn had a pretty good filet as well. places like outback, arthurs, , etc want to make me puke (sorry wiley, still love ya ).

i think the "bestest" (lol) ever, at least one that sticks out in my brain, is a tie between chicago chop house and delfrisco's double eagle in dallas (before it became a chain). TO.DIE.FOR.
