Why are people complaining about this?

Its like buying a Escalade and complaining about Gas cost. If you can afford to live in NJ, you should be able to afford this hike rate. I dont want to hear any whining.

The Roads are completely full , Transit is the only way to get around that isn't congested.

$20 each way for folks in Toms River (Ocean County). Disgusting. Alot of people will start driving, traffic will get worse, and the Pandora's Box has been opened. Once riders start leaving, there will be less revenue, and fares will have to go up again and more service cut.
The Fat Man says he think there should be fare increases every 2 years, yet keep the gas tax low. Now that the plan is approved, Trenton needs to feel the wrath!

It is a shame that it had to be done but Christie is right. We are in an $11 billion hole because administrations before him kicked the can down the road. The time to pay the piper has come.

Yes the piper must be paid, but he must be paid properly. If they're raising the fairs for NJT, then they should raise the gas tax, eliminate at LEAST 500 school districts (NOT EXAGGERATING), and consolidate, conserve, and make sure all of our debts are cleared before we start lowering/raising taxes or starting massive projects (such as ARC which is very poorly planned IMO)

Well I believe he is doing it properly. He can't mandate consolidation but municipalities who aren't getting state money will come to that conclusion on their own. Raising taxes in this state is a bad idea. Wealth is currently leaving due to tax policy. Promises not to raise taxes may stabilize a very serious problem.

Well that is sure to keep the wealthy here. If you want a whole state that is as stable as Camden, that is the right way to go about it.
