We are moving to New Jersey from California. My husband will be working at East Brunswick. What will be a safe and nice area to live around the area - without having to commute a lot and also should not be too much of a Uni student area. Thanks for ideas in advance!

Carriage Run apartments in North Brunswick. 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments and townhomes for rent... Pet friendly and nice size space and big yards for around $1100-$1400. We live there and we're only moving because we bought a home.

I can say that East Brunswick has very good schools and shopping is very convenient although traffic is a bit heavy along Route 18. It is also easily accessible to NJ Turnpike, Route 18, and Route 1.

However, I am not familiar with safety aspect. Maybe other posters can chime in. If safety is good then why not move to East Brunswick ?

I think within East Brunswick you will have a lot of choices it just depends on what your needs are; primarily your price range and how many bedrooms you are looking for.

I would suggest living in East Brunswick. There are many good apartment complexes, condos and townhouses to rent. Where will your husband be working? I grew up in EB and lived near the Route 1/Ryders Lane area. I could make it to the Old Bridge section at the opposite end of Route 18 in less than 20 minutes. That was 30 years ago though. There are back roads that can get you there, but it just seems as though everything is congested in EB. Great schools, great recreation facilities, wonderful library and all of the stores and restaurants you could want for are along Route 18.

I live in EB and like it very much.
Def a safe area, espeically where I live.

I feel sorry for anyone who breaks into my place, but I can't see that happening. It is VERY quiet by me.

East Brunswick is a very upscale, nice area. I would definitely just look at homes there.

East Brunswick is a very safe area. As far as rentals go, I would look into Cranbury Crossing, Society Hill and Fox Meadow.

East Brunswick is generally one of the safer towns of Middlesex County. Everything is pretty good there.

You mentioned "uni student" area, so I'm thinking you're confusing "New" Brunswick with "East" Brunswick. There is a massive separation between New and East Brunswick - even though they are right next to each other.

I would recommend living in East Brunswick or South Brunswick. Both have excellent school systems and are relatively crime-free.

East Brunswick, North Brunswick, Highland Park, and Milltown would all be good choices. I would avoid New Brunswick since much of the city outside the immediate downtown area is kind of sketchy.
