I love Arizona and that is why I live here most of the time. My wife is native american and I expect her to get questioned if stopped so we will be prepared. No big deal!!! We have REAL driver licenses here in AZ!!
Gosh! I better start studying State Laws. Never heard of the driver license you guys are talking about. I guess I shouldn't give an opinion being so dense about it. But, While living in Europe, I did have a Europene driver's licence but on the license it stated I was citizen of USA. It also gave information for authorites to check out. Is there any information like that on those driver license?
I too intend on visiting Arizona, although my love is New Mexico (Chama area). I guess I am not worried about anything. I would not and would not travel in those areas on the news about possible drug cartel coming over the border (Arizona news). I wouldn't think New Mexicans would want them in their state either.
Here in Okie land we really don't have too much of a problem that I know of with drug cartels or illegals. Maybe we do but being on a ranch in the middle of knowhere helps.
Some reasons Americans have always rejected the idea of a national ID to prove citizenship in their own country: it introduces a very expensive layer of bureaucracy to positively ID 300,000,000+ people as citizens, then to handle lost, stolen, or damaged IDs. People who are always banging on the drum of "less government" should run from this one. Then there's the issue of forged IDs, or forgetting to carry your ID everywhere you might be questioned.
Haven't we learned from the "birthers" that no matter how much proof you give of your citizenship, if people want to believe you're not a citizen, that's what they'll believe, no matter if you're the President and Commander in Chief. Police in AZ are not immune to that same manner of thinking, probably especially if all you're carrying is a NMDL.
I refuse to use my passport while traveling in my own country. That's insane.
Sane or not, the US is one of the few countries in the world that does not REQUIRE a national issued ID to be carried at all times. Oh, and Mexico is currently rolling out a biometric ID card to all of it's citizens.
