We have worked out things to travel to N.O. on the 25th short notice and changes. I grew up on the westbank many years ago which was a different time so I am not a total novice.

I am bringing my wife and 14 year old son down for a few days. Since things have changed so much please help me a little mainly with the hotel.

If we stay in the city in the tourist area give or take what are the top 3 safest hotels as far as security, location, etc now? I would like to stay under $200.00 per night with some negotitation or discounts. If there is one that fits the bill and is a safe walk to the Cafe Du Monde, riverfront, etc. that is great too. WHAT ABOUT THE BOURBON ORLEANS?

Also, I never took an airboat ride and would like to take them. Are we best served by going with what the hotel has to offer?

Best seafood place either in the city or close by? We are good with a local place. What are the must do's now?

Finally, would you go on a plantation tour or take the river cruise with the seafood buffet? The tour would be nice but we like eating too. Is this buffet and cruise worth the money or is it minimal regarding eats?

Thanks for any help.

Try the Country Inn and Suites on Magazine street, we are booked there for $172 per night in October, it includes buffet breakfast. We are doing the plantation tour, swamp tour, and riverboat cruise.
