When I think of Forest Hills I think of Queens Boulevard and surrounding areas such as Austin Street. Parts of Forest Hills do look suburban yet still look more urban than most of Eastern Queens.
part of Forest Hills? after i was born i lived for a few months at 66th Avenue and 111th street in 1962 and i saw it a few decades ago as a teen, it looked nice but not really tony and villagy
is there a Starbucks in the middle of the villagy part?
does the subway stop near it?
one of the Son Of Sam victims was killed there I think? was it near Austin Street? or was that the Kitty Genovese case?
I have no idea but Son of Sam is not listed on the wikipedia page but this is "Michele "Big Mike" Miranda (1896–1973), consigliere of the Genovese crime family and one of the most powerful New York gangsters in the 1950s and 1960s.[40]"
Also, I'm pretty sure there is a Starbucks. The subway does stop in Forest Hills.
I think that the Kitty Genovese case was in Kew Gardens, from what I recall reading, so not too far away.

Nah, definitely not the suburbs. People tend to think NYC=Manhattan and think that Queens is all suburbs. Quite the contrary. It is still a part of NYC. Even though it has nice, quiet areas, it also has more public transportation than the average area - not a feature of the suburbs. Not to mention the shops and the crowded main streets like Austin St. and Queens Blvd.
Love Forest Hills, only wish I could afford to buy in that area!
