Just wanting some feedback as it seems to be such a hush hush topic?

Do nannies prefer to be on the books or not?

Now I may be returning to work (not sure) and the only way I can do this with 2 kids is to get a nanny. I get very different information from different people. I would love to hear from some nannies as to what you prefer and look for. It will be part time thing and I expect nothing but to look after my kids. I am very easy going so I would say a lot easier to work for.

I just want to hear from nannies what they like/dislike.

It doesn't matter what nannies prefer. If YOU prefer to not go to jail for tax evasion/ assisting in tax evasion, you will pay your nanny legally and file 1099's.

No they prefer to be paid in cash, under the table, in all honesty. If you pay on the books, expect to pay them a bit more.

Yes this is what I suspected.
To be honest I have decided not to go with a nanny. I think its a cultural thing but I prefer to have my child in a preschool.I will only work around my kids anyway. I am a SAHM at the moment and it does make me sad things I see at play grounds. I do see some wonderful nannies but I see some rotten ones too.
Thanks for the feedback. I am sure there is a lot of "cash under the table" here in NYC.

If you can afford preschool then go for it. Don't blame ya.
