I have a ticket for crosswalk violation ($165) with pending judgment for about a year. One of my friends had the same situation with 2 tickets pending judgments and got her car towed. Is there any way to request an answer form the court? Is it legal to tow the car if the ticket is still unanswered?

Thanks for your help.

If it's a year old it should already be in judgement. Have they actually mailed warnings to your home address about the ticket? Are you from a state that doesn't share their data base with NY? Up until last year PA drivers avoided judgements on tickets because NY was unwilling to pay PA for information that would make the judgement legal (addresses for the registered vehicle). They do now however.

Can they tow? Absolutely, regardless if you've answered it or not. You can try to make up an excuse for why you didn't answer in a timely manner and they'll take it out of judgement to consider evidence but a year might be too long. I think they won't tow if the accumulated amount is less then $350. It changes periodically.

Sorry, I probably gave the misleading info. I send this ticket in on time, had one hearing and got a request for more info. I send the pics and the explanation as I was asked on time as well. Since than I did not get any notices or warnings, nothing. I live in NY and got the ticket in NY too. The current violation status of the ticket in the system is: Hearing held. Adjournment. Ticket past due. No fees or penalties applied, the amount is still $165, as initial.

Is there any way to request an answer form the court and should I do it? Is it legal to tow the car if the ticket is still unanswered?
