I am going to be moving to Manhattan after the holiday season from California. I am doing some research as to where to live in Manhattan. I know there are many different neighborhoods, but I can’t decide as to which neighborhood to move into. Me personally, I consider myself the preppy type. No offense to anyone but I am not really into the hipster scene or the artist scene. Can anyone tell me which parts of Manhattan are considered the preppy? I am a single guy mid-20s and I would like to move in an area that has a lot of people of my demographic (mid 20s/single crowd). Any suggestions as to which neighborhood would be a good fit for me (the preppy mid-20s crowd)?

Upper East Side (this is where old money lives)
Gramercy
Murray Hill
Those are the wealthy neighborhoods that are least "hipster" or "rich hippie"
I'm very offended as well. You now owe me money for my pain. I have e-mailed you my PO Box number for you to send me a $500,000 check made to cash to make up for it.

West village, also inceasingly upper westside. Murray hill is full of college jocks.
Preppy in the original sense of the word--Upper East Side all the way. The Village and the UWS still have more liberal, artistic leanings--classic preppy is the East Side (90s through the 30s).
The Upper East Side is one of the preppiest neighborhoods in the whole country. Also try Upper West Side [Somewhat more trendy though], Murray Hill, and Turtle Bay.
Upper East Side, particulary Yorkville, which is the E 80s and E 90s from 3rd Ave to the E River
Murray Hill, which is the E 30s, especially between Lex. Ave and the East River
