You better off staying there and saving as much money as you can, as I'm sure the COL is much lower there.
Haha, well as much as I love working with computers and technology, I want to pursue a more creative position with illustration or digital art. I don't see that happening with Microsoft unless I got a job with their creative team. A lot of the creative jobs I come across are all located in NYC or LA. I've been to NYC about 15 times since I was a kid, and it's always been one of the places I've wanted to live at some point.

There is some debt from an old credit card I no longer use (it was supposed to be for emergencies, too; guess that's what happens when you give a naive 18-year-old her first taste of "big people money"). But other than that, most of the information on my report is all related to student loans.

I was going to ask if there's anything besides student loans on your credit report, because I have student loans as well and my credit is very good. After graduation there's usually a grace period and depending on where your loans came from, you might be able to defer payment if you don't have a job yet. Doing that didn't hurt me when I needed to.

The first thing to do to improve your credit is to pay off that credit card debt.
