It's not a shortage, it's just that other areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn have gotten so expensive that it's pushing gentrification into places like Bushwick and Bed Stuy and now those areas (or rather, the more "desirable" areas in those neighborhoods) have gotten too expensive for some people. I was in utter shock when someone told me what the rent was in one of the new rental buildings in Bed Stuy. I can only imagine what rent is like in some of the trendy Bushwick areas. No wonder these people are moving to Mott Haven.

pseudo gentrified. trendy/hip areas in bushwick are like a unicorn - complete myth. espoused with ulterior motives

Lol god no. And as much as I like busting the OP's balls about how he endlessly tries to hype it as such.....I don't think he wants it to be. Haha this thread does read like some oddly veiled attempt at hype though.

"Hey guyzz, what's going on here? All of these nice people are flocking to "the southern bronx". How strange!!"

Oh SoSoGuy, you crack me the F up...

Sorry, I just put in loans for a sushi joint, a wellness center, and a winebar. Mott Haven is the new Williamsburg.

Is Mott heaven much cheaper than Brooklyn neighborhoods like Bath beach or Bensonhurts?
If these so-called hipsters wanted more bang for their buck AND a safer neighborhood, why wouldn't they chose to move to one of these neighborhoods instead?
Sure they are not hip or trendy, but neither is Mott heaven. Besides, logistically speaking, by staying in the 'cool' boro of Brooklyn they would be closer to the hipster mecca, that is Williamsburg.
If Mott haven is not considerable cheaper than a safe, non-hip Brooklyn neighborhood why would these hipsters move there?

Because the Bronx is the new Brooklyn.

Die Hipster would be mad at you for this post...

This is apparently "the line" that hipsters aren't supposed to cross.
