Why weren't the parents called before placing him in handcuffs?

I hope the bullied kid's parents sue the bully's mother for $250 million for emotional distress and assault upon their son. Fair's fair.

That kid has the classic slack-jawed "who, me???" look of fake innocence that brands him a born perp. Nothing racial about it--I went to school with almost all white kids and the worst among them always presented that face to the authorities when the latter put a stop to their antics.

Kid is a bully and was probably being smart ass. Parents saw an opportunity to sue the city and hope that city settles for some easy money. Now trying to leverage the media to bring on attention they think city don't want.

I hope city fights this like how Newegg fought a patent troll looking for easy money. I'd be cherry on top if city wins and court finds the parent responsible for legal fees they incurred to city for this bs lawsuit

I hope the family gets a lot of cash from this -- and I wish it would come out the pockets of all the NYC taxpayer morons who think this is no big deal. Any teacher, asst. principal, or principal, who can't handle a schoolyard fight among 7 year olds w/o calling the cops should be fired. What they did to that kid is child abuse, pure and simple--and especilly mean and stupid when you read the story and find out the kid didnt even take the money he was accused of stealing.

You just dont get it do you? It makes NO difference at all who took what, said what or did what. Calling in the cops and handcuffing a 7 year old kid in a police station for hours is just way over the top and totally indefensible. This is something that the school should have settled when it happened among the kids and their parents.

That they couldn't figure out what to do except call the cops is a testament to their total and utter incompetence.
