Key is being aggressive and take nothing personally. If a car cuts you off, so what, it just has to roll right off you. Just be aware at all times of what's in both lanes beside you and always double check when making any lane shift. Above all, enjoy the ride and don't stress it
The key is to have nerves of steel, be prepared to swear and insult other drivers mothers. No stress, no stress at all.
lol
seriously, you either love driving in manhattan or you hate it. There's no gray area here at all. I happen to love driving in it, it's like a video game to me, and I have a perfect safety record.
Everyone is exagerating. Most of the time you are stuck in crawling traffic, and there is no video game like crazy driving. The key for me is Satellite radio to keep me entertained while sitting in traffic.
All you need is a brave heart and a good imagination. The key is Picture yourself inside an armor plated
Humvees in Mogadishu fighting for your life to a safe spot. Yellow cabs = enemy tanks, Pedestrians and
cyclists are just grenades throwing at you from all directions from enemy combatants. What's there not
to like? Besides..... at the end of the day, your survival rate is still pretty high.
Why just Midtown? Driving in Manhattan in general can be chaotic. I think the best time to drive in is during the weekends, as along as you can find parking or know of reasonably priced garages.

It seems chaotic, but there's an underlying symmetry that just flows when you get used to it
